Not your usual retreat
Join us in the regency capital Amlapura. The volcano looms behind us, the Royal Palace in front. A perfect setting to witness the parade of demons, a cultural event that predates Hinduism.
This retreat takes place over Nyepi, a day of silent reflection and introspection. This is the holiest day of the year for Balinese Hindus. The celebration of the new year is an opportunity to contemplate meditate and be still. We are invited to review the year past and renew our spirit for the year to come.
We practice together with two workshop-style classes per day and philosophy discussion in the evening. Explore the vast subject that is Yoga. Find a still point in an ever turning world.
Our retreat facility has everything you want from a beautiful beach side resort. Snorkel the reef, hire an out rigger, sit by pool or relax in the ocean facing restaurant.

Alan teaches in this small group setting twice daily leading the group through pranyama asana and the practical applicant of yoga philosophy in our daily lives. The small group enables individual attention so that each student can work at, and progress at, their own rate. This group is open to students both new and established.

A wonderful opportunity to observe this festival that dates back to 78A.D. The start of the “Caka” year – the Balinese New Year is celebrated by the Hindus over a period of six days. On the eve of Nyepi we will drive to a near by regional center to have a picnic and see the Ogoh in action. Large paper mache demons are paraded through the town accompanied by young people and loud traditional music. The atmosphere is electric, you wont want to miss this !

Join us to see the traditional Barong Dance. The Barong dance is one of the most famous and important of Balinese dances, not only a performance but a belief central to Balinese culture. The dance is accompanied by the traditional Gamelan music.

Canangi Sari are an ever present part of daily life in Bali. Nestled carefully in a small woven basket palm leaves are flowers and other symbolic items representing devotion and maintaining the balance with the divine.
